The saying, "you can't pour from an empty cup" has never been truer then when you're a mom! My boys take so much from me, mentally, emotionally, physically and I love them dearly, but I need to make sure to refill myself daily. With their ages ranging so much, I think that is why I have been drawn to podcasts. But, after starting our church ladies' study, I realize that I absorb more, if I am actually looking at the pages and can mark them for later. So, today I wanted to share with you two books that I am reading right now that are winners in my eyes!
I have found this book to be very thought provoking. If you have never heard or read Joyce Meyers materials, she can be very “in your face” but in a good way. She doesn’t beat around the bush. She is very point, there is no fluff. It may seem obvious that our mind is a battlefield, but I had many lightbulb moments while studying this book. Our mind controls so much of our life and we have to keep it keen! If we don’t realize how those “things” around us are affecting us, we can fall victim to the enemy without even realizing how he is manipulating us! Her material is easy to read, using language that is easy to digest. Looking back, I have marked up this book a lot! Many good points that I want to be able to refer back to when I need a reminder. I highly recommend this one!
I found this devotional last year and have been working my way through it. The way Ms. Wallwork writes, it speaks directly to my heart! She uses her own life experiences, never glossing anything over but laying it out right as many of us mamas are living it. She takes a section of verses and focuses on that for an entire week; breaking down the meanings and digging deeper into helping you to apply the lessons to your own situations. With little time for quiet reflections, I like that each day's reading takes only a few moments, but it gets my mind in the right focus for the rest of the day. So, I can get at least a few sips of hot coffee and my morning devotion before having to start my morning routine with the kids. If you were to follow this devotional daily, there are 16 weeks' worth of materials and I have loved every word!
